Our Auckland specific paving sand is a very lightweight but quite coarse product. The lightweight properties come from the pumice content. It's workable properties make the product ideal for paving and cobblestone applications. The porous properties of the pumice make it very free draining.

Coarse river sand sourced from New Zealand’s mighty Waikato river, contains a high pumice content. Commonly used for a bedding support as a base underneath pavers. Spread and level off on top of your compacted base course (usually GAP7 in the Auckland region) but underneath your pavers or cobblestones. It’s lightweight properties make it very easy to spread.

Also used as a pipe bedding and sometimes used in tiling leveling applications.

Not really suitable as a sandpit sand as it is quite rough to the touch and does not hold its shape as well as other products when damp.
